Rider Dies In Fall At Aston-le-Walls

A rider died Friday in a fall at Aston-le-Walls Horse Trials in Northamptonshire, England, British Eventing has confirmed “with deepest sadness.”

Sarah Yorke, 37, was competing in the BE100 level with her mare MGH Hera when she fell at Fence 3 on the cross-country course, Horse and Hound reported.

“Medical professionals attended immediately following her fall at fence 3; however, tragically, she could not be saved,” according to a statement from British Eventing. “Her horse, MGH Hera, was assessed by the on-site vets, walked back to the stable, and is uninjured.”

“On behalf of everyone at British Eventing, I would like to express our deepest condolences to Sarah’s family and friends,” British Eventing CEO Rosie Williams said in the statement. “The thoughts of the entire eventing community are with them at this incredibly difficult time.”

British Eventing will complete a full review of the incident in line with its established protocols.

“To respect the family’s privacy during this very sad time, no further details will be shared. We appreciate this is a deeply difficult moment for the eventing community, and we encourage everyone to support one another,” continued the British Eventing statement.
