Karl Cook and Caracole De La Roque topped a field of 50 of the world’s finest riders in front of a sold-out stadium buzzing with energy on Sunday in the Rolex Grand Prix CSI5* at the Falsterbo Horse Show in Sweden, now part of the prestigious Rolex Series.

The two-round, 1.60-meter challenge pushed both talent and composure to the limit. Sanne Thijssen, second to go, made a statement with a fast clear aboard Con Quidam RB in 83.83 seconds, soon joined by the likes of Max Kühner, Pius Schwizer, Simon Crippen and Trevor Breen, who took the early lead in 82.99 seconds. The home crowd roared as Amanda Eriksson became the first Swede to go clear, followed by star performances from Henrik von Eckermann and Malin Baryard-Johnsson, who clocked the second-fastest clear in 80.18 seconds.

With 14 clear rounds and only 13 spots available, the pace was as important as precision. Cook and Caracole De La Roque stole the spotlight with a flawless round in 77.69 seconds, making them the fastest of the first phase and the only U.S. pair to advance to the second round. Also advancing were Steve Guerdat, Peder Fredricson, Pedro Junqueira Muylaert, Matias Larocca and Andreas Schou. Despite a perfect round, Eriksson was edged out by time, 14th at the end.

In a fiercely contested second round, double clears came thick and fast. Kühner set the bar; Schou raised it, and Thijssen lit up the arena with an electric 43.74 seconds, appearing unbeatable. Guerdat came close in 44.20 seconds with Dynamix De Belheme, and Baryard-Johnsson thrilled the home crowd with a lightning round in 45.64 seconds with H&M Indiana. But it was the final rider, Cook, who delivered a masterclass in precision and pace, stopping the clock at 43.28 seconds and clinching a brilliant win in Falsterbo with “Caracole.”
