Devon, Pa.—May 24

On the first Saturday of the Devon Horse Show hordes of spectators head to the storied show grounds to check out the fair, watch beautiful horses and line up for plates of tea sandwiches. While the leadline draws huge crowds with its cute factor, and hunter afficionados fawn over the junior hunters in the Dixon Oval, the hardest time to get a spot on the rail is over at the Wheeler Ring for the pony hunt teams. Longtime devotees and new horse show fans alike all flock to the ring to watch costumed ponies and riders canter in teams of three, all attempting to take the final fence simultaneously.

Each team dispatches an assistant or two to “bribe” the judges with baskets of gifts before taking off around the arena. Check out some of our favorite photos from the event.
