Callan Solem Show Stables is pleased to announce that Collin F. McNeil, Co-Owner, from Chester Springs, Pa., has recently been elected to the Board of Trustees of the Lake Placid Horse Shows. McNeil and his family are dedicated equestrians, attending the Lake Placid Horse Shows for many years as exhibitors and spectators, and they are looking forward to this new relationship with the world-class competition.
McNeil’s involvement with the equestrian community is extensive. Having been named a Master of Foxhounds for the Radnor Hunt in Malvern, PA, he also serves on the Boards of the Radnor Hounds Foundation, the Pickering Hunt Foundation, the Pennsylvania National Horse Show, and the Devon Horse Show. In addition to his equestrian activities, McNeil has had a prolific and varied career as a writer and journalist, business executive, and motion picture producer. McNeil hopes to use his experience to assist the Lake Placid Horse Show with strategic planning; helping it to further strengthen its reputation as one of the best horse shows in the country.
Horse show Chairman Richard M. Feldman said, “Collin comes from a family that is very involved with the horse show business, and he is a very dear friend. We have an active board, because that is what boards are supposed to do. My number one concern is that people have a good time at the show, because we’re a vacation destination. If we can be successful showing them a good time, then we are doing the right thing.”
“Lake Placid is a great show,” expressed McNeil. “It’s a beautiful location and the former venues of the Olympics are adjacent to the show grounds. It’s historic! For us, there is a real family connection to the area because the family has been vacationing in Lake Placid for five generations, enjoying the mountains and the lakes. That’s kind of the way the show is as well, it has a real family feel to it.”

McNeil continued, “I enjoy helping to make the shows better, and it’s wonderful to be so involved because I have so many friends and family members competing. I am really pleased that Richard [Feldman] asked me to join the Board.”
The Lake Placid Horse Shows proved to be one of the most successful events for Callan Solem Show Stables in 2011. The stable’s horses and riders garnered seven championship honors and two reserve championship awards during the two weeks of the “AA” competition.
