Colorado —– Never before has the original Chinese Meridian Massage, called Tui Na, pronounced “tway nah,” been offered for horses, dogs, and cats to everyone wanting to care for animals. Tui Na is the most commonly used form of bodywork in China today.

Tui Na is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theories and concepts. It can be best described as a combination between massage and acupressure. Massage is the manipulation of bodily tissues, while acupressure works with the energetics of the body. By combining these two powerful yet gentle forms of bodywork humans and animals alike receive the physical and emotional health benefits which include:

Builds the immune system

Releases endorphins necessary to relieve pain

Strengthens muscles, tendons, joints, and bones

Releases natural cortisone to reduce swelling and inflammation

Resolves injuries more readily by increasing blood circulation and removing toxins

Balances the flow of energy and blood to optimize nourishment of internal organs and bodily tissues.

Tallgrass Animal Acupressure Institute is the world-renowned leader in animal acupressure. They are offering this two-day Tui Na Course in July 2012. Participants are required to have a working knowledge of the meridian system of animals and basic TCM concepts. The instructors will guide you through a series of hand-techniques such as pressure (Yi zhichantuifa), rolling (Gun fa), grasping (Na fa) and pushing (Tui fa) among others. These techniques can be highly invigorating and have been utilized for thousands of years.

Tallgrass Animal Acupressure Institute provides a variety of both online and on site clinics worldwide. Nancy Zidonis and Amy Snow are the authors of: Equine Acupressure: A WorkingManual, Acu-Dog: A Guide to Canine Acupressure, The Well-Connected Dog: A Guide to Canine Acupressure, and, Acu-Cat: AGuide to Feline Acupressure. They founded Tallgrass Publishers offering books, manuals, DVDs, and meridian charts. Recently, Tallgrass has also released the Equine AcuPoint Apps and the Canine AcuPoint iApp.
