Touch Balancing/Animal Bowen is a soft-tissue therapy developed by Carol Bennett of Durango, Colorado, based on the human Bowen Technique of Tom Bowen of Australia. Using a unique, gentle rolling move across muscle edges, it releases held tension in the muscles and helps to normalize muscle function and reduce pain, often in only a few minutes. “This workshop is designed for veterinarians, horse professionals and horse owners,” McDuffee said. “I have heard many international trainers and riders talk about this type of therapy as the gentlest and most effective therapy they have ever encountered. I know everyone who participates in the workshop will not only enjoy it, but will also learn a great deal as well.”

Touch Balancing/Animal Bowen therapy has helped or significantly improved back pain including sacrum and low back issues, TMJ problems, cribbing, neck problems, stiffness, acute and chronic laminitis, lameness, colic and digestive issues, nervousness and fear behavior and blood sugar regulation problems. “I am pleased that The Sanctuary is offering this workshop to the community, as The Sanctuary is dedicated to the healing, conditioning and well being of all equine athletes,” McDuffee said.

The Sanctuary’s world-class facility features some of the most advanced conditioning and rehab equipment in the world. State-of-the-art equipment includes Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Pegasus Laser Therapy, a cold saltwater leg spa, an Aqua-Pacer water treadmill, Electro-magnetic Pulse Therapy, Respiratory Therapy (Transpirator II) and an equine swimming pool just to name a few.
