All U.S. Horses Pass The First Horse Inspection

Oct. 20—Guadalajara, Mexico

Fifty-one horses were presented today at the first eventing horse inspection at the XVI Pan American Games. All U.S. horses—Michael Pollard's Schoensgreen Hanni, Shannon Lilley's Ballingowan Pizzaz, Buck Davidson's Absolute Liberty, Hannah Sue Burnett's Harbour Pilot and Lynn Symansky's Donner—passed without incident.

Six horses were held for reinspection:

All U.S. horses—Michael Pollard’s Schoensgreen Hanni, Shannon Lilley’s Ballingowan Pizzaz, Buck Davidson’s Absolute Liberty, Hannah Sue Burnett’s Harbour Pilot and Lynn Symansky’s Donner—passed without incident.

Six horses were held for reinspection:

  • Agustin Carvantes’ Jos Aquiles (Mexico)
  • Erik Arambula’s Monterrey (Mexico)
  • Carlos Cornejo’s Prometeo Equus (Mexico)
  • Santiago Medina’s Qetzal Coati (Colombia)
  • Wilson Zrabanda’s Victoriosa (Colombia)
  • Novis Borges’ Ritual (Venezuela)

On reinspection, Quetzal Coati was not accepted. Agustin Carvantes elected not to re-present Jos Aquiles, who sported a large wound on the front of his hock. The other four horses were accepted on reinspection.

All 49 horses will perform their dressage tests tomorrow, beginning at 9 a.m. Central Time.
