Wellington, FL (March 23, 2011) – Canadian Olympian Jacquie Brooks set a goal for Grand Gesto to compete in the World Dressage Masters, and the 16-year-old Oldenburg gelding reached his career highlight following a successful ride in the Masters Grand Prix Special. Thanks to Gran Gesto’s excellent conditioning he also won the Arenus Performance and Conditioning Award, which is given to one horse at the show whose conditioning enhances its performance.

Brooks, who shows out of her own Brookhaven Dressage, in Ontario, Canada, said her goal was to keep Gran Gesto fit enough to compete at the Masters. “He is 16 and this is his final year.  Our whole goal was to keep him fit enough for this competition,” Brooks said. “Gran Gesto is one of the only horses who has made every possible major team for Canada and adding the Masters to the list was a great highlight.”

Grand Gesto competed in the 2003 Pan American Games, where he helped the team win a Silver Medal, the 2006 World Equestrian Games, the World Cup in 2007 and the 2008 Olympic Games. Brooks began training and competing Gran Gesto as a five-year-old, and thanks to an amazing work ethic he began competing in the Grand Prix by the age of nine.
