On February 4th Edgar Schutte was elected by the AHS board as their President.

“It is an honor to be elected the AHS President”, said Schutte. The AHS is one of the larger sporthorse breeding associations and serves many significant breeders in the USA. Doug Leatherdale represented the AHS well, after 10 years he felt it was time to pass the baton. A board motion was passed to make past president Leatherdale an “Honorary Member”. “It is very nice to have an experienced board behind me and such enthusiastic members, the support has been amazing” Schutte notes. He likes to better connect the members and equip them for success utilizing the tremendous wealth of experience and knowledge amongst veteran Hanoverian breeders. Not only connect them within the Society but also with the real world, the show world and ultimately with buyers for their prospects.

“It is fantastic that we have such a great working relationship with the Hanoverian Verband. I embrace the Hanoverian aim and while upholding the great image of the Hanoverian I will be focusing on our US market. When our breeders thrive our society thrives” Schutte asserts.

Edgar Schutte has an education in Hotel management. He started riding at age 7 and moved to the USA from the Netherlands to eventually settle in the Sacramento area where he started a string of successful Health Clubs before going full time in the horse industry in the early 90’s. He and his wife Susan manage Rainbow Equus Meadows where they always maintain about 20 prospects for sale and stand 7 popular stallions.
