Default Kingpin and Mike Winter

Kingpin and Mike Winter

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a most difficult time for the Wayfarer Eventing family. Mike Winter is at the hospital being checked out as a routine check after a fall. He is ok. Please know that your kindness and respect are/will be most appreciated at this tragic time. Emeline T. Loughlin

[Mod note: Please see this spin-off thread for general discussion regarding catastrophic equine health issues and the sport, and keep this thread more focused on sharing thoughts of Kingpin and support for Mike.

Thanks,
Mod 1]

Unhappy

Glad Mike is okay, very worried about Kingpin. I hope we hear something definitive soon.

Lauren has hers set as RIP Kingpin, and she is at Rolex... I asked her if there's an official release yet...

she said she was at the fence... and he didn't survive the fall, but still no official news.

Oh no, poor mike, how awful, must have been a fluke of a fall to fall on landing. I am watching, but missed it as the live streaming cut out for me. Prayers and jingles.

This makes me so sad. I stayed home this year because I was devastated last year and it's just as hard to hear from home that a horse may not have made it. Jingles for Kingpin but it doesn't look good from what I am hearing.

On the live broadcast, they said the event organizers would be issuing a statement about Kingpin during the lunch break. I haven't seen anything posted yet on the Rolex website.

My compter has been out of commision all morning; this is what I was greeted with when I signed back on - I am devasted for Mike and Emma and Billy's owners...such a fine horse, with so much desire ... thank all gods that Mike is physically ok.

It was announced at Rolex, but press release still hasn't happened.

R.I.P Kingpin. What a fabulous horse.

My condolences to all involved.
