On those fold-down felt ankle boots.

These were the caveman's answer to ankle boots for the horse who is base-narrow behind and brushing?

Why are you guys in a hurry to put felt wool so close to water...mud.... maybe even burrs?

No demand for Murphy's in a jar. As if....

As tempting as it was to buy them all, I just got one - 3 left.

I bought the last Ebay jar of Murphy's-- just so you know who to blame.

I wonder a) who got the penultimate one; and b) what the seller thinks of this sudden run on Murphy's Oil Soap.

I still use them. But I admit I haven't used pins since I was a child. We used tape, even back in the 70's.

What I miss is Fredelka Formula leather conditioner. That stuff was simply the best. And it explains why I still have 40 year old tack that is still functional.

I assume it doesn't because I or my associates end up out there once a year or so but I suppose he wouldn't call us for the "successful treatment" wink wink nudge nudge...

Usually the horse is kinda drunk, and the shelter smells like what i can only describe as an onion distillery.

Actually the whiskey treatment is still out there. For mild/gas colics, my vet has us mix up 1/4 cup whiskey, 1/4 cup epsom salt, 3 cups Hot Water. Stir unti dissolved and then down the throat it goes.

I knew a guy who successfully used the shot of whiskey for mild colics in a gelding who was prone to frequent mild/gas colics. It worked if they gave it right away. If the condition wasn't caught right away, then they called the vet.

PETAL BELL BOOTS!!!

You knew you were one of the best at my barn when you got to event in petal bell boots! I was so envious of the older girls who had them, and left the barn before I ever got to use them It gave me a bit of a complex I must admit, and every time I hear them, it brings me back to being a little kid.

As for the leather open fronts with buckles, I looked everywhere for them, but was not prepared to spend $500 for a set, so when I went to Europe a couple years ago, I found a set in the cutest little tack shop for about $250 CDN. You can bet I was all over them! Still have them in the bag, they are for 'show use only' but I am doubtful that they will ever see the light of day But, you never know

Navajos.

Mine are going strong at 15 years old. One had some edges and holes chewed in it by a dog. No problem. Takes a beating and keeps on ticking.

Maybe somebody should use the Contact Seller link to tell him so that perhaps he will dig up more of it.

Green Cool liniment. I can find a lot of my old favorites but I have not yet found a source of Green Cool. Do they still make it?

YES! I loved those and I think they stopped making them because of too many idiots who would tie the knot on the tendon. They had to make wraps more moron-proof but I agree with you about shavings and crap getting in the velcro so it doesn't stick.

Welladol
Creosote (I have a 55gal drum of aircraft oil we use, but it's not the same)
Two horse trailers with windows in front so you can see your horse's heads
Men's britches that will last a wole hunt season and cost less than $300
Reducine (had a shopgirl ask, "is that new? I've never heard of it.")
Shell fly spray and bait - little yellow pellets that killed slews of flys.
Caliente helmets - probably spelled wrong, but you know what I mean
Bars of saddle soap - still available, but you have to work for it.
Drop nose bands - if I wanted a figure 8, I'd have asked for a figure 8
Scarlet oil - again, I found it, but only after 2 shops told me I couldn't
Can't help you with all but here are some
Reducine

Drop Noseband

Bar Saddle Soap

Wow, our barn is apparently a treasure trove of old-fashioned products. I guess someone's been taking good care of this stuff, because we have a lot of the things you all are missing and use them on a regular basis.

About twenty wool coolers from the 60s and 70s, most were prizes that still have the show's names on them. Used every day and in good condition, although some are a little threadbare.

Tons of fishnet anti-sweat sheets. A lot of them have shrunken so that they don't cover anybody's butts anymore, but they work on ponies pretty well.

Those little mane combs you all seem to love so well!

A HUGE box of the Ulster boots (maybe other brands too, but that style) in lots of colors.

NZ rugs aplenty but thank god we don't use them. I don't like them. Heavy, rough, yuck.

Our tack rooms are full of vintage tack cleaning products that aren't used anymore, but i love looking at the old labels.

We also regularly use the old style flannel standing wraps. They're not my fave, but it's nice to see a good quality product holding up after many years.
