    Default PET PEEVES!

    What are some of your biggest pet peeves??? A couple of mine are showing temper in the ring and people that just jump off of their horses after they are done and give them to a groom.

    Show Ring Temper, and people who blame their horse.
    People who think they own the ring.
    People that ride in 1/2seat all the time, or move their upper bodies so much they look like a ballerina(?spell)
    People who dont show in the proper attire.

    Un-horse show related
    People who think they have a TON of horse experience and are really "Greenies".
    People who leave PLasTic wrappers on the barn floor.
    People who think the "Stable Hand" is there to clean up their mess.

    eerg i could probably think of a lot more but ill behave myself

    -Temper in ANY way around horses. Bad things happen.
    -mess. Or at least, leaving a mess behind.
    -Riding a really dirty horse. As in not even getting the entire SADDLE area clean first. that can't be comfortable for the horse either, and doesn't let you really check the whole horse out.
    -railbird judgers. dont EVEN get me started!

    Thats the nicer ones!

    Barn relate...biggest pet peeve....not sweeping.

    Riding related...point chasing not worring/concerned about the well being of the horse/pony.

    Owners who never come to the barn to see their horses that are in full training, and show up only a week before the show and ride.

    Snobs of any kind.

    Un-horse related. People who have one child and complain how hard it is. Try three or more, or even twins!

    bad turnout - esp. hair (it goes over your ears w/ the metal things in the front and back, and your pony tail IN your helmet!) i know people are always having issues w/ differnt hair types/ thicknesses, but w/ a good hair net (the really thick kind) i have never met anyones hair that I can't put up correctly (and i've done alot of people's hair as a result of the pet peeve)

    People that non-stop brag about how great their horse is.........on and on and on.......and....their horse is not so great!

    People who only show up to ride on their lesson days!

    Not using bit keepers on full checks!

    People who refuse to discipline their horse!

    People that brag about their placing.....like "We were GREAT, got 2, 2nd's and a third" and you look on HSS and their were only 3 horses in the class! They never tell you that.

    Biggest peeve.....people that do not trim their horses legs, fetlocks, face, bridle path, etc. - I hate that the most!

    Oh, and new stiff reins. I have a new pair of fancy stiched Edgewoods coming and I hope I can break them in quick!

    People riding (or teaching lessons) in a small, crowded warm up ring while others are trying to warm up for their class and can't get to a jump because of the crowd. (Listen little kid on pony/adult on horse/trainer, we are playing Frogger and I'm the SEMI)

    long un-pulled manes, cut forelocks
    untidiness in general and disorganization.

    * badly done hunter hair

    * green riders buying green horses because "they wanted a project"

    * people who look down on people who have grooms/trainers/money/etc...

    * Un-cared for tack

    * Horse Show Moms

    * People who just assume that because someone has some sort of success it was simply handed to them

    * People who just assume that any junior or just-aged-out junior with a nice horse has had it handed to them

    * People who don't bother learning about their sport (Hunter Seat Equitation by GHM should be REQUIRED)

    * Anybody saying anything to the effect of "Today's juniors suck".

    * badly done braids

    * badly done wraps

    * people who look down on other disciplines

    * Name dropping

    * people who makes stuff up about their riding

    * People who don't know about something trying to "educate" others about it.

    -temper towards a horse because of a mistake/bad round/etc.
    -throwing loads of supplements at a horse for no apparent reason
    -not congratulating a barn mate who did better than you did
    -little boys or girls who gripe when asked to hand graze their pony (this one and related behaviors really get me)
    -people who assume that just because you're grooming, you don't have brains
    -people who assume that just because you're grooming, you don't need to eat/go to the bathroom

    Hmm...actually, treating the 'hired help' poorly in pretty much any situation, be they grooms, cleaning staff, waitstaff, etc., gets me.

    When people ignore barn rules. Being an employee at a boarding stable gave me a whole new and clearer perspective on being a boarder and what some horse owners are like. Barn rules are there for a reason, and it's really crappy when people think they don't apply to them. Yes, there's a reason the barn is closed when we're bringing the horses in and feeding them. Yes, there's a reason to leave gates as they are. And yes, even YOU have to sweep up after yourself.
