    Default So who has ridden.....

    a famous horse?

The most famous horse I ever rode was Desert Orchid. He came to our school years ago (I was 11) when he first started doing charity work. My house master asked me to help his groom with him, so I spent the day with him. Before he loaded up to go home, I got quickly sit on him!

If you are unaware who Desert Orchid - he is very famous English Race horse, who just looked so graceful over the jumps. He won the Gold Cup, and Irish Grand National. You can see his wikipedia page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desert_Orchid

I think we should probably say who they are, because many people are probably unfamiliar with other disciplines.

I haven't ridden any famous horses, but I did ride Goldlack, the horse on the cover of Lockie Richard's book, "Begin the Right Way," and a couple of the horses pictured inside the book as well.

HungLikeAStallion-- Ted the Peep 'Ho is well known around these parts, and needs no introduction.

My gelding's great grandsire is Secretariat...So I guess you could say my horse is a little famous, no?

My horse, Gracie. Who will grace the box of a Breyer horse this year, I can't remember which one but I'll tell you when it comes out so you can all go buy it and see my mare's beautiful picture.

Here's a link to the photo in the photographer's blog who took it. The photographer also happens to be one of my best friends (check out her site, it's coool)

Fifty lashes, wet noodle, and go do a search for Ted and DGRH on this board!

I suppose you don't know who the $700 Pony, Avery, and Willem are either???

The most famous horse I've ridden would have to be Smokey Glacken. Really nice girl, sold as a broodmare last November for over $1 million.

The other most famous would be Tiger. Really gorgeous guy with tons of personality.

Search up any threads to do with the delicious Easter confection, known as Peeps, and you shall have your answer.

He's also the author of the hilariously wonderful Winter Haiku, which I would also suggest searching, for your reading pleasure.

You never answered my question though...Can I be a part of the "I rode/ride a famous horse clique"? he's a Secretariat great grandon, come on!

Yeppers! They even have the same look/color/build. I've yet to find out if he shares Ted's affinity for Peeps though.

HungLikeAStallion-- If Judge being related to Secretariat isn't enough for me in be included in this very exclusive "club", then certainly the fact that he shares a commonality with Ted the Peep 'Ho is!

I was unaware we were starting a clique - not sure what the criteria is, but I think the horse has to have established a name for themselves rather than a relative.

    I also rode Messaging -

In these parts, Judge has earned the title of "Spooker Extraordinaire"...So he is *kind of famous* around here.
