I spent yesterday on my couch since my cold/plague/bird flu is killing me, and I decided to watch a horse movie that I picked up last week called "The Long Shot."
Basically, it's about this amazing dressage rider who has a loser husband and a young daughter and this incredible horse. They move to California for a new job, husband leaves her, she goes to work for this famous dressage trainer.
It was bad. Reeeeeaaaally bad.
She's broke, her horse spontaneously ruptures the blood vessels near his optical nerves and goes blind in both eyes, then she falls off a ladder and gets hurt, but she decides to ride this other horse that no one else can ride instead until right before the competition starts when her crazy ex comes and injures this horse. I don't think I'll ruin it for you if I tell you that she rides the blind horse instead to win the Grand Prix Musical Freestyle and $20,000! PS - she finds love again too.
At least the riding wasn't too bad for the most part, so you can cringe about the acting and the fact that she tied her GP horse to the trailer by his reins instead.
Would someone please make me a good horse movie? Why are they always so silly?
Ugghhh, that movie is seriously awful!!! It is based on a true story, but takes many extreme examples of "artistic license", ie. most of the dramatic stuff never happened. I love just about any horse movie, no matter how bad, but will never watch this one again.
Lapeer ... a small drinking town with a farming problem.
Proud Closet Canterer!
I bouhgt 'Shergar' out of the cheap VHS bin at Wal Mart once. I only watched it once... don't remember much about it, btu since I haven't picked it up off the shelf again, I'll put it in the "bad movie" column. I think it was just really boring, somthing about a stolen racehorse.
I'm a huge 'Horse in the Flannel Suit' fan, I paid full price for it...
Proud Momma of *Capital Kiss* and Bottle Rocket!
Does anyone remember the name of this cheesy horse movie, probably made in the last 10 years?
It's about a diving horse show in Atlantic City set back in the early part of the 1900s. Country girl has talent and learns to ride diving horses. Something happens and she goes blind the day before their huge grand opening. Manager doesn't know what to do and is about to lose his whole invest. When he's not looking she climbs the high jump. They release the horse who gallops up the tall ramp, and she grabs onto horse just in time to make the jump and plunge into big pool below. Crowd goes wild, diving show doesn't go bankrupt, and blind girl is a hero.
I totally caught that movie on Hallmark's "western" marathon a few months ago. It stars Jenny Garth from 90210, right? It waassss bad. Funny how that backyard plow-like horse looked like a warmblood in the show ring.
Did anyone ever see Nautical, The Horse With the Flying Tail? I can't remember if it was good or bad, but it was of the era of The Horse in the Flannel Suit. Disney, I think.
