That's three in the last few days - Charles Keating (stage and soap actor), Robin Williams and now her. All will be missed

I had no idea she was 89.

In my mind, she will always be http://i.cdn.turner.com/v5cache/TEGP...ll00237064.jpg

Ms Bacall was nominated for a Tony for her leading actress role in the Tony program for Applause.

She was up against the formidible Kate Hepburn who was nominated in the same category for Coco (Chanel)

Ms Bacall won...and sadly Kate Hepburn was quick to dismiss the "loss" on her part and the win for Bacall as one of the little awards Ms Bacall was always trying to collect,, whereas she was above it.

In Lost Treasures, Lauren Bacall was asked to introduce the nomination for Coco with one of the longest performances, at the Tony awards..by any artist.

She was told she could state that she had "beat" that Hepburn performance.

Ms. Bacall declined. She clearly stated her win, in no way, diminished the performance of Ms Hepburn

She was a class act through and through

That scene where she says, "You know how to whistle, don't you?" OMG. More sex appeal that anything 'modern' can offer.

A true siren, a mature woman, a class act. Agree with ACP that she offers more than all the Miley Cyruses could possibly bring. I too could not believe she was 89.

She was the age (or even younger) than Cyrus when she met Bogey....Classy while totally sexy...

She was 18 or 19 when she met Bogie. Classy can always be sexy. Miley Cyrus isn't sexy, she's just classless and raunchy. Huge difference.

Very sad to hear as she was one of my favorites.
Read her autobiography several decades ago. The last years dealing with HB's lung cancer was hard on everyone. Back then the Studio's controlled everything, so while the public knew he looked ill, they didn't know why. Not to mention the medical options for lung cancer was harsh at best at the time.

Totally agree she was a class act all the way.

She was a hell of a dame.

Her nickname was "the Look" for her way of looking with her chin lowered and her eyes looking up through her lashes.

"To have and have not" made her an instant star at the age of 19.
    Definitely a classy lady.
