Sidney Poitier. I just watched "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner," and "To Sir, With Love," for the first time in eons. I'd forgotten how very cool that guy is.

Another one for Hugh Jackman. I just think he's a sexy beast (no pun intended )

    Johnny Deep (clean shaven)
    Colin Farrell
    Ryan Renyolds
Pierce Brosnan in Thomas Crown Affair
I agree with Clark Gable in Gone with the Wind. My mom loves him. Not sure I really liked the movie but he was handsome in it.

I think Montomery Clift is very handsome, but I don't find him 'hot' - he looks a lot like my Dad as a young man.

I agree Penny, completely forgot about Antonio Banderas! I like him even better for doing Puss'n Boots in Shrek.

Agree with J-Lu too, what I know about the actor outside of acting affects how I feel about him and his looks.
As a child I thought Charlton Heston was handsome; not now.

Johnny Depp comes across as intelligent and thoughtful, not impressed with his image or the whole Hollywood thing - I have friends who are friends with him and he is kind, funny and unassuming, according to them.

Did you see him in "In the Heat of the NIght"? "They call me MISTER TIBBS!!!". Very cool indeed.

Tom Hiddleston hands down... and to my understanding he's also a well-educated, well-spoken, classy, well-mannered guy too. My grandmother would have said "a gentleman."

He's better known as a singer, though he did do some acting, but, watching his performance of last night, I was reminded about how handsome Kris Kristofferson was when he was young.

Maybe not "ever" but my recent eye candy faves:

    - Stephen Amell
    - Ian Somerhalder
    - Henry Cavill (already mentioned)

Blue eyes and a little scruff...definitely my type.

Tough to choose, but my #1 is probably Mel Gibson in Mad Max and esp. The Year of Living Dangerously. So sexy before I knew about the actual dude himself. The chemistry with Sigourney Weaver, the tension in the story and the music giving the sense of a total collision, wowsers. Not the greatest movie ever, but still one of my favorites.

An extremely close 2nd, and a much nicer human being, Jeff Bridges sexiest in Tron, The Fabulous Baker Boys, The Last Picture Show, Starman. Also in Against All Odds (terrible movie, but beautiful man ). Would put him first for consistent awesomeness over the years and being a good guy...

Someone I didn't see in the first few posts: Gene Kelly - I'd seen him plenty of times, but one day, bam, I realized how hot he was, such an athletic but graceful dancer, very cool. Also, Mark Ruffalo, love him.

Other favorites some already mentioned (at certain stages of their careers, and regardless of personality, holy crap!) Paul Newman, Marlon Brando, River Phoenix. My era is more RP and Johnny Depp.
    Fear is the rocket sauce.

Jude Law!! He's just the perfect balance of masculine and feminine, great smile and that slightly husky voice.

Along with Alan Rickman, I met Jude many years ago after seeing him in a play way before he was so well known here (I was a fan for ages). He's was just as beautiful in person. To top it off, in the play he was totally naked in one scene.

There's an old-time British actor named Roger Livesey who is just gorgeous to me. He starred in this romantic movie called I Know Where I'm Going, which is one of my fave movies. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...d=0CIwBEP4dMAs He also has a husky voice.

This is a fuuuun thread, ladies! I am pretty boring because I gotta tell you, it's George for me, all the way. I always say I simply would not be responsible for my behavior if he so much as smiled at me.

However, there are others who have certainly caught my eye. Redford in "The Way We Were" - he's like looking at the sun. Newman in "Cat" literally drips sexy sweat. Definitely Tom Selleck, and like my boy George, he's another one who has only improved with age. Costner in "No Way Out" (yeah, gotta thing for uniforms even though DH has never worn one since Cub Scouts). Crowe in "Gladiator." In the young crowd, my daughter and I both drool over Liam Hemsworth. Those eyes, that accent!

I think it's great that so many of us also think Capt. Picard is hot stuff. DH has never been able to figure that out, but obviously I have good company! I've seen Mr. Stewart in a play and he's riveting in person.

Still, if I could only pick one, I'm with about 1 billion others who would want George with them on the desert island...
