You know it is very cold when your cat who goes out in all sorts of weather stands at the door, squints and shakes BOTH his front feet and runs the other way.

oh wow, my parents old cat peaches acts like she wants out... she doesn't know how cold it is out. I don't usually see Blue Jays or cowbirds in the winter, or starlings ever but they're coming to get food.

You keyed someone's car with your nipples. Saw that one on FB. You think a temp of 1F sounds lovely, and the 30F predicted for the weekend sounds tropical.

When the dogs poop in the driveway because its too cold to walk any farther.

You go shopping, intentionally buying extra frozen food that won't fit in the freezer because you can just leave it in the garage. And you hurry home after shopping so the fresh produce won't freeze in the car. You have an extra down jacket in the car, not for emergencies, but to put over your lap because the heater doesn't actually produce any heat when it's this cold.

In the time it took to do horse chores last night - maybe 1/2 hour, tops - an apple I had in my coat pocket froze. :-(

When you go to let out the dogs, and there is a massive pileup at the door as the cold air hits them and they slam on the brakes
And yes, as annoying and gross as it is, a few of our fosters have started to go potty on the porch if we aren't out there to force them into the grass!

You get up at 5:30 a.m. and by 6:00 a.m. you're already wishing it was 6:00 PM so that you'd be back home and bundled under layers of blankets.

You and the corgi fight over the space heater, the heating pad in the bed, and the blanket. Normally I'd appreciate another warm body, but he snores and farts worse than any man I've ever been with.
