Default A toast to each other on New Year's Eve!

As the year draws to a close, I think it would be grand to raise a virtual glass to each of you in a toast. I confess I read this one on FB recently, but it's beautiful and I can't get it out of my mind.

Feel free to keep it going with your own toasts/wishes, and a very happy new year to you all.

"I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright. I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more. I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive. I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger. I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting. I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess. I wish you enough hellos to get you through the good-byes."

I like logical people---they provide a nice contrast to the real world.

Two more, both Irish in origin.

"In the New Year, may your right hand always be stretched out in friendship, but never in want."

"May your home always be too small to hold all your friends."

I raise a glass to all of COTH and the ones we care for and love. I wish us all fulfillment in the coming year, the happiness to enjoy it and the health to fully experience it. May our horses, our dogs, our cats, our other pets and extended animal family be healthy and happy in the coming year. May we all have the courage and conviction to shake each others hands and hug each other should we ever meet up in person. I wish this for Coth!

Oh, and I raise a glass to the Chronicle of the Horse Staff and Moderators. I LOVE the magazine and I so appreciate the fact that the mods lend their time to keep us in line so that the forums can exist. Toast to you, Mods, writers and editors!!!

I raise my glass (real not virtual!) to all. For all that have sorrowed this past year, may they find comfort and joy in the next. And may all your dreams, hopes and aspirations be fulfilled. CHEERS!

    Ah Hogmanay in Scotland.

Debts would be paid by New Years Eve as it was considered bad luck to see in a new year with a debt.

At the first stroke of midnight called The Bells, Scots would traditionally sing Auld Lang Syne

    Another toast such as:
    "Lang may yer lum reek!"
Which means long may your chimney smoke. It originated when people had coal fires and if the chimney was smoking it meant you could afford coal and keep warm.

    Happy New Year everyone!

Water in the glass here, but I may still toast with it, I think.

I second the toast to COTH and all that run it and the Moderators that take care of the forums we get to play in.

Lets keep on keeping on into the New Year!

    YAWN!!!
I was in bed as the new year started, but just.
& I thought of my COTH Cyber-friends as it was just me, housecat & TV to see it in.
Kept awake by neighbors celebrating with firearms & fireworks, I peeked out my BR window to see horse & pony both admiring the display.
