A vetwrap bouquet for Abby and candy boxes of horse treats for the girls! He specifically told me the one labeled "drama" is for Abby.
LOVE the vetwrap bouquet! That is awesome! Yep, he's a keeper.

    Thanks!!!

She's doing well. It looks like just maybe that crack has sealed itself over!!! I'm trying not to get too optimistic about it yet.

She missed her vet appointment yesterday. I rent a trailer from a local feed store to take her to the vet. I had it reserved, but they rented it to someone else who showed up before me! I scrambled around trying to find another ride, but no luck.

We're trying to reschedule for sometime the end of this week or the beginning of next week.

*jingles* that would be a huge relief if it had finally sealed over!!!!!
If i'm posting on Coth, it's either raining so I can't ride or it's night time and I can't sleep.

So it looks like that crack really is closed! I'm still keeping the foot bandaged until she gets the shoe reset and x-rays to confirm it!

Nothing else to update, she looks great. She's been doing a little light hand walking. This is what she thinks about the donkey following her on her walk:

Wow! She looks great. She's certainly sound enough to clean the donkey's nose

Today is Abby's 20th birthday! Didn't think she'd make it to see her 20th birthday, that's for sure!

BaroquePony-- Thanks! You want to see sound?

    http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c6...pse9765d23.jpg

Due to her being a complete idiot in the stall over the weekend, I made her a very small outdoor paddock. It's maybe the size of a double stall at most-- about 12'x20'. But she is SO happy out there! Unfortunately she hasn't gotten to go out the past couple days because the ground is frozen again.

ZuZu-- ugh, no, she hasn't seen the vet yet. She had an appointment for Tuesday and the vet had to cancel this time. Argh! It's been reschedule for next week... hopefully 3rd time is the charm!

Awesome. She's looks really good. You certainly have been taking good care of her. The small paddock sounds like a good idea.

Maybe she will make veterinary history

I'd like to think jingles are working. Not stopping yet.

I really appreciate all the jingles! They must have some magic power, because they seem to be working!

Abby finally had her vet/farrier appointment. She had new films taken, her shoe reset, her feet trimmed, and her teeth floated.

Best news of the day-- no more bandage changes!!!! The farrier trimmed away all the dead sole over the crack to reveal nice, solid new growth. I took some pictures, but didn't realize they all came out blurry until I got home. Here's the best of them:

    http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c6...ps9dd743a0.jpg

You can see the tracts and holes from the old abscesses around the toe, white line, and at the back next to her frog. But everything is closed to the joint and bone!!! Yay!

The farrier filled the entire shoe with Equi-Pak and I just have to keep it booted and dry!!! Such a relief!

The fracture still looks ugly on x-rays-- she had some bone loss from the osteomyelitis, but the vet seemed glad it wasn't worse. He was quite pleased with her comfort level.

She's still staying on antibiotics for a few more weeks, still on stall rest (or very small paddock rest), and we'll re-evaluate again when it's time to reset the shoe. Hopefully there will be no need for her to go back before then!!!
