    Default Columbia, MD Lesson Barns

Asking for a friend and I'm sure it's been discussed but my search feature isn't working again. Looking for a safe, beginner lesson barn within 45 minutes of Columbia, MD (Howard County). Laid back is fine but needs to be professional with well-kept critters. Thanks in advance!

maybe try Royce Evans? not sure what her farm is called but seemed quite competent when I dropped a horse off. she's currently coach for the Johns Hopkins riding team. She's a former pony club "B"

I've seen Royce at IHSA show this year and have been impressed so far. She's been great with her students and JH has been holding its own against the Z4R1 powerhouses of Goucher and GWU.

Royce is at Ivy Creek Stables in Fulton - http://www.ivycreekstables.com/ - definitely convenient to Columbia

Walnut Pond Farm is an excellent choice- professionally run, well kept school horses, and two trainers- Kara Listrani and Allie Panetta. Located in Brookeville- an easy drive from Columbia.

Is Columbia Horse Center still up and running? I remember showing there at "A" horse shows way back in the day. Schooled on the grass for the summer shows. Haven't been on grass in YEARS. (I can't even google it at work, it's blocked...the only website not blocked is COTH, ironic)
