    Cool Canoeing Preferences! What's Yours?

Some people prefer to canoe on a nice calm lake, others prefer rivers that ebb and flow between different levels of paddling, and there are those who just go straight for the rapids. What do you prefer?

It depends. Sometimes I have been away from the "waters" so long the rapids call me, other times a long canoe ride is just the thing.

I was always quick to canoe in the rapids... the feel of the vessel bumping hard against the waves and current were the best way for me
However, with my new canoe partner, I have learned theres a million different speeds and places to canoe.....especially giving his medical induced canoe killer that sometimes requires a little blue pill to get the canoeing going....I am used to canoeing for 30-45mins at a trip...this 4hrs of canoeing is both amazing and tiring!!
Imagine 4hrs of rapids hence the learning of slowing it down to calm waters...

My current canoe is a bit of a mystery in that sometimes it wants to stay parked when I want to go for a trip around the lake. It is a nice canoe, but not as eager as some I have ridden in. It's n older model, very sophisticated and attractive, but sometimes seems to want to be retired. I'm okay with it as age has made me happy to spend more time on the bank just enjoying the view.

I agree with Jenm. If its the same all the time its boring and now matter how much you like to canoe, it will get old. That is why its good to have a car rack and you can take your canoe out to different environments. Some days I like a calm creek/lake, but perhaps that night I want to go down the rapids.

Variety is the spice of life!

    It's been a long time ...

Let's see. I think these days I'd like to start out on the calm lake, proceed to the river with its ebb and flow ... gradually getting deeper and deeper with more and current ... THEN gofortherapidsinarush and come out into the ocean ... with its tidal ebb and flow ...

Gosh. It HAS been a long time. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......................

Despite the thankful employ of double entendre, time to paddle these canoes to another forum better suited for specifics on this type of topic…
