    Default Rambo Optimo on TOTD

Rambo Optimos are on Tack of the Day... and appear to be no longer carried by Smartpak as all of the reviews went "poof" into cyberspace.

I suspect these are being replaced by the Vari-Layers.. are the Optimo's a good buy for $280?

IMO still too expensive to pay for a blanket...but it's so tempting!

Rambo used to have a thing on their site about how to measure for their blankets, but I haven't seen it in quite some time. IIRC, it's 4" off the horse's measurement for turnouts and 2" off for stable blankets?

My 78-80" mares wears 75 in Rambos. A 72" even works fine.

They run much bigger than regular Rambos. My mare would be an 84 in a regular but wears a 78 in the Optimo.

Today is the last day of 3 day sale of the optimos. I've found that the optimo runs one size larger than the "regular" rambos. The other rambos run true to size on my horses.
Callie wore a 74-75 in her Baker and Weatherbeeta and her Rambos.
Cloudy wears a 78 in his Baker and Weatherbeeta, well he gave his Weatherbeeta taka away, in his Bucas, and in his other rambos. However his optimo 78 is a bit too large, so he downsized to a 75.
Hattie wears a 74-75 in her Bucas, and did in her Weatherbeeta which she gave away, but her 75 in the optimo was too big so she downsized to a 72.
We'll never use the 400gm liners unless the global warming turns to global freezing, so I bought them the 100gm and 200gm liners.
The california and rug plus rambos run the same size as other brands on both my TB and my WBs for the last 13 yrs.
This year, the color changed, I think. The optimos are not being phased out, they just added those vari-layers on other blankets.

Yes, Optimo runs bigger than regular Rambo. I had to size down on any of mine that got an Optimo (which I bought for $250, but that was end of season, not beginning like we are at now). I haven't actually used mine yet. Just checked fit!
