Default Bald nose in old dog

My 14 year old lab is losing hair on her nose (again). The same thing happened when she was about 10. Her nose was bald for about 2 years, then randomly started growing hair again. The baldness is just on top of her muzzle, starting right at her nose and going about 2-3 inches back. It's not her whole muzzle, only about an inch across. The skin isn't dry, flaky, discolored, itchy, or irritated, there's just no hair. What could cause this? Why would it suddenly resolve, then start again? Nothing changed in her diet, environment, or routine.

I've been putting neosporin on her nose, but it doesn't really make a difference (other than making her trying to lick her nose. Which is adorable)

Here's the only picture I have of her nose last time.

The hair eventually grew back (sorry, bad photo)

And then started to disappear again. This photo is from November, it's worse than the original photo now.

Does she have allergies or rub her nose at all? Hypothyroid?

My girl has a bald path on her tail (stud tail), but no health issues, maybe its a similar thing on your girls nose?

Do you feed her in a plastic bowl? if so switch to a metal one.

She gets fed in a metal bowl (plus she eats so fast I'm not sure her nose ever touches the edge )

No allergies, and she doesn't rub her nose.

She did go to the vet today for her yearly check up and the vet wasn't concerned. She had no idea why she has no hair though

Sitting at the annual veterinary dermatology conference yesterday, one of the lead endocrine veterinarians from UTenn showed pictures of hypothyroid dogs with hairloss on the nose... She stated this is a common area of hairloss.

I would do a Michigan state premium diagnostics thyroid profile.

My dog was hypothyroid when that happened to her as a senior.
