I've had some close calls with pigeons but thankfully only during schooling.

If that happened to me, I would believe that my trainer had made the bird do this to remind me to "keep my shoulders BACK!"

Looks like a crow or ??

Had a hot air balloon go over the rider's salute at tree top level at a show I was judging....horse had bigggg eyes! Had a deer jump through at the end of a diagonal I was riding (and then got a negative comment of horse becoming tension in the halt).

Well, I haven't seen a pigeon do that either but since that is a crow, possibly a raven (although it looks to small to be a raven to me) I'm not surprised at all I would venture to guess that it might be a momma crow with a nest in the area. They are fiercely protective of the areas around their nests. I lived in the city for many years and there were certain streets that I went way out of my way to avoid walking down in the spring because they would dive bomb like I've never seen and if you were really encroaching they wouldn't hesitate to go for the face.

While riding in a bird infested indoor area, a sparrow flew into my horse's face, right between the eyes - no joke. He did nothing, like it didn't happen. I screamed.
