    Default Charitable Man

We are looking at a yearling by Charitable Man, and I was just wondering if anyone here knows why he retired so early in his racing career.

    Thanks.

He had a year off between his penultimate start in the 2009 Travers and an optional claiming event at Delaware in 2010. I don't have any specific information, but the time line certainly suggests an injury.

That does make sense. I was kind of hoping to know if it was an accident versus more of a chronic soundness (i.e. heritable) issue.

I figured as much. His trainer was Tony Dutrow when he last ran. Prior trainer was Kieran McLaughlin. The horse had a fracture of his shin in the fall of 2009, with surgery done and a screw implanted.

Info on his owners, who could provide the info you seek:

    Good luck!

I know Dutrow's wife (and assistant), I'll see if she's still in town and can ask her, she what she tells me.
