Default New horse is eating shavings!

Just adopted a 4 year old OTTB from New Vocations who arrived yesterday. He's been great and has hay in front of him 24/7 with 24/7 turnout. Yesterday and today he's been eating mouth fills of shavings....WHY????

No answer as to why, but if he were mine, he'd br on peat moss in a hurry.

Bed stall with hay until your horse de-stresses and settles in. Horses eat shavings when stressed, when in pain, when nervous and upset, when they haven't been on shavings in a while, and for many other reasons.

It's great that you got the horse you wanted!
