    Default Curb chain J-hooks

How many of you crimp the part that connects to the bit or hackamore, and how many do not? And what tool will manage to crimp these dang things?

I tried with pliers and nearly took off a thumb tip, but the j-hook didn't budge. I find they fall off and get lost too easily uncrimped, and can't afford to lose one in the middle of nowhere.

    I crimp one side.

Take your pliers and hold the hook, then with the curb in place get a hammer and tap the hook down.

I crimp one side closed, and the other so I can just barely work the chain out for adjustments. Plain old pliers do the trick for me, larger ones that give me a little leverage.
