Hello Everyone! Good day to you all.
I am new and have a question for Edmonton area horse people.
I grew up riding, (for 15 years) did Pony Club, schooling shows, Tetrathalon, summer camps etc. Now 15 years and 3 kids later I would like to get back into riding regularly. For now, I'd like to just ride once a week on a school horse.
I am interested in more in flat work: collection/ extension, flying changes, leg yielding, riding more from my seat and also ground work, learning more natural horsemanship methods, learning more about these magnificent animals and that relationship between horse & rider.
I am looking for an Edmonton barn that would be good for me to get back into riding right now, not too competitive but with good coaches, and lessons for flat / dressage / natural horsemanship. White mud is not able to provide what I need and from what I have seen in the area, most barns are hunter/ jumper.
I'd love to hear your suggestions!
Thank you, wishing you a good day.
Please let me know what you find, I have been looking for lessons like those too. Most places require you to either board your horse there or trailer them in, neither of which is an option for me.
Best of luck in your search!
Alberta Horse Girl, I got a tip on Amberlea as being a good place for dressage/ flat and that Ellen is a good trainer for it. They have school horses too and you a competitive program as well, if that is of interest. Just passing on what I heard, if you wish to check it out.
Best of luck to you too!
Thanks to all of you who have replied! I want to share that I have found a fabulous barn. Spoons Arabians in Sherwood Park. The trainer there is superb, and I am riding a privately owned horse who is a world champion Morgan. My riding is getting better every week.
I recommend anyone who is interested in dressage in the area to check Spoons out.
