Good Deal NB. It's a great thing.. I used to have a friend whose dog name was Fire. I live in the SW in an area prone to fire season instead of summer. So yelling FIRE into the woods was NOT a good idea. I made her go door to door and introduce her dog to the neighbors so they knew she was calling for her dog.
I agree with the posters who say standardbred. We have two trotters that have that shape of neck and head! And the tail flagging and head tossing, both down to an artform! Not to mention the feathering, both of them have it, especially the two year old. He's blessed with the hair gene, has a double mane that splits down the middle.
Well Mystery Boy was nutty this morning - I thought I'd put him down in the arena while I got ready for work so he can start easing on to the grass. He ran himself inso a lather and screamed the whole time. I brought him back up after 20 minutes and attempted to rinse him off - he was too worked up. I can't wait to get through this anxiety but we need to do it quickly because I'm leaving for a couple of weeks to the middle east soon, leaving him with my husband.
We've decided we want a music themed name. Here are some of the names on the list (thanks for the suggestions!)
Solo (positive thinking!)
I think once he settles we can name him. This morning I wanted to name him dumb@$$ for getting so worked up when he could have been eating grass. *sigh*

I forgot - ultimately I think he's STB, with some QH, ARAB and possibly some TB. Maybe the STB was crossed with an ArabxAppendix . What do we call mutt horses besides "grade"? He's my first cross bred mogrel!
My STB pacer that I lost this spring had the best W-T-C that I have ever had. He never paced and I remember that when he was racing he never paced unless you put the hopples on him. From the time he stepped off the trailer at my house I never saw him pace a step. People often mistook him for a Morgan/Arab cross or if they say the top of his freezebrand thought he was a mustang. They are great endurance horses and I have friends that competed endurance that I trail rode with that made numerous offers on him. I sure miss him and am not sure if I will ever be able to replace him.
