I guess this one goes under the "It never hurts to ask" category.

Pretty smart, really. How many of us have given away valuable things because we did not want to hassle with the used-sale process, especially if we know it is going to someone who needs it or values it?

The only time I would consider a post like this is a wildfire - where the horse was evacuated but the tack was not.

Otherwise if they can't afford the tack ....

Falls under 'if you don't ask, the answer is always 'no'!'

But yeah, those ads make me laugh with a cringe...

lol yeah, I'd like a free horse trailer too!! However something tells me if one ever does get dropped into my lap it won't come from a stranger on CL. I feel like the ridiculousness of the request could also be reduced by offering SOMETHING in exchange. For example if someone had a crappy trailer that needed a new floor I would offer to exchange them the trailer for 6 months of me mowing the farm 2x a week, or lessons for their grandkids, or house sitting, fixing their car, or well yeah you get it...

I would like a free 3 or 4 horse trailer with living quarters in good condition just in case someone is giving one away!

Can I have some free bungees to go with that? I'd really rather not pay for them; as long as they're in OK condition I'm sure they'll be fine!

This kind of reminds me of the one where the girl wanted to trade her unbroke young horse for a good, well broke, well mannered trail horse. Must be under 15 years old and no shorter than 15.1 hands though, and must have show experience. Sure, I'm all over that one like a cheap suit.

I am not looking for a free trailer. I have a trailer. I need a truck. My old truck is not working very well anymore so anyone want to give me a free truck, that runs well because clearly I do not need another truck that does not run well, I will gladly take it off their hands.
    Thank you.

Here's another one that makes me go "Hmmmm....."

    http://raleigh.craigslist.org/grd/3829139547.html

The horses in the photos look nice enough, but it sounds to me like they may be in over their heads just a little bit.
