    Default Need a Show Name!

My new lease horse... well, I require a new show name for her, even if her owner doesn't think she needs it. (I'm of the mindset that its a case of "tough cupcakes, I'm paying you $100 a month to train your horse, AND I'm paying my own entry fees!").

Present show name is "Lighten My Paycheck". GACK.

It would almost be tolerable if she was a super fancy, A-Circuit hunter. But she isn't.

She's a black and white Paint mare, 4 years old. Showing in local fairs and schooling shows this year, nothing too exciting. (and I don't think she's got much potential beyond that, she's a 15.1hh hony and not particularly fancy or pretty).

Any ideas? Her barn name is Aurora, but it certainly doesn't need to be part of her show name. Would like it to be easy to pronounce, otherwise I'm not fussed. I'm just terrible at naming!

    Aurora Borealis.
Press your staples "that was easy button", because I think that one was fairly obvious.

you might want to discuss this whole idea of showing her under a different name. that could be a deal breaker for some owners. you may be getting such a good lease price because the owner expects you to show her under her registered name.

Briar Rose (Like the original name of sleeping beauty/ Disney calls her Aurora)
    Above the Clouds
    Another Lullaby
    As You Wish
    Once Upon a Time

Possibly you like any of those?

The owner does next to nothing with the horse, she wants her horse to show but never shows herself, and the horse is only broke Walk-Trot (but is coming nicely), and barely at that. She's a good girl and can take a joke, but I'm seriously training her, not just putting on show miles. And I'm pretty sure she's unregistered, I asked about it and they don't have papers, so I'm not exactly changing her breed registered name.
But I will ask if its okay to show her as "____" before I put it down on the entry form. But I want to have a specific name picked first!

And hunterrider23, I had thought of Aurora Borealis before, but some of the announcers in my area have mispronounced "Lewington" (La-ving-tan?), so I don't want to challenge them too much!

I actually like Briar Rose, DejaVu!
Thanks for all of the suggestions so far, guys!

You could go with Northern Lights. That might be hard so mis-pronounce.

Ooooooh! I LIKE that! And you'd think that'd be an obvious next step, but noooo.... I suck at naming!

I think I might do Northern Lights Any other ideas still welcome though!

I think "Lighten My Paycheck" is a fantastic name for a show horse. It's exactly what they do!

PS - it doesn't really matter that the owner does next to nothing with the horse, it's her horse.

In the Black - Going off the Banking/Paycheck theme

Night & Day - Reference to the color and to your training, as in before and after

Aurora - one word names are classy

Painted Pony - since she's small

Raven - black reference, Edgar Alan Poe poem

I liked Northern Lights as well. Good Luck!
