    Cool Name for black kitten

After much debate and looking at pedigree vs moggie, then all sorts of different breeds my husband and I are getting a Maine Coon.

We're picking him up on Friday evening. He's black, with an unusual smokey grey undercoat, especially on his tail (which may or may not stay), enormous ears and big, big paws. He was very playful this afternoon but did finally get tired enough to have a lovely cuddle with us. He's very brave, not scared of new people or noises. The breeder says he's pretty rambunctious but also a huge love bug and follows her everywhere.

It was a decision between him and a girl, but then we met the mothers and his mum was very out going and extremely affectionate - I was lost when she put her paw on my shoulder.

So, he needs a new name. Not a person name, thanks. It can be a little bit quirky or funny. Thanks

He sounds adorable! Here's a few: Black Bean (Bean), Obsidian Black (Sid),
Darth Vader, Kuro (black in Japanese), Sharpie, Licorice, Blackberry.

Doesn't matter what I name mine. They always seem to end up answering to Kitty.

My suggestion for a black kitten is Buckyball. It has the carbon theme, suggests playfulness, and sounds diminutive.

My house cat is Chaos and his mother is a barn kitty named Mayhem because she and little mates wrecked the tack room when we corralled the wild things as feral kittens when they were approximately 8 weeks old.

We had a long haired black kitten find us. He was wild little thing that showed up in the barn one day. I asked friends for name suggestions and one of them suggested Sampson. Our Sampson is growing into a huge sweetheart. Hard to believe he was ever wild!

Thanks for all the suggestions, so far we're thinking about Jet and Mac (Black Macs is a dark beer my husband is very partial to). We won't make a decision til we've picked him up and got to know him a little better.
