What a terrible shame. One of those horrible reminders that there are very real, very sudden reasons for all the little safety tips we learn (and a reminder never to cut corners). RIP little fellow.

DH pointed this out to me on the news feed a day or so ago. Very sad.

I do NOT know where my 12 year old is all the time when we are at the farm. BUT horse/farm safety has been drilled into her since she was a teensie person. We have a call "corner" policy when approaching the barn so as to not surprise horses in the aisle, etc. I've heard some of the kids saying it (corner) when going out to catch horses that are grazing. Gives the critters a heads up that someone is out there.

    So sad for this family...

How very sad, and how much we all take safety for granted. I can count many times that my dd is out with the ponies without me right next to her.

It makes me feel a little sick to my stomach when I hear about those kinds of tragic events. Poor little guy. Poor parents. Someone made a mistake leaving him unsupervised, but no one deserves that consequence. Ugh.
