They absolutely shouldn't! I've judged this before. Should be 100% on how the handler stands the horse and presents themselves!

Congratulations to all exhibitors that showed their lovely youngsters at Devon this year! It was so wonderful to see so many friends in the past week..... Looking forward to seeing everyone next week at Upperville and hopefully Warrenton as well!

That's what I thought. It looked like they pinned it like any other class to me but could be that the nicest horse were the best handled too I guess.

Just to clarify about the Am Handler class... Conformation does count 25%.
    Here are the actual specs:
    AMATEUR HANDLERS CLASS
Open to handlers who are no longer eligible to compete as a Junior Exhibitor. All handlers must possess current amateur certification issued by USEF. Horses to be shown in hand and moved on the line. Class to be judged 75% on presentation of horse and handler and 25% on conformation, way of moving and soundness. Horses to be walked and/or jogged before being moved to the line in order of preference. Horses of any age, sex or breed are eligible. Horses showing in any section or division at this show are ineligible, with the exception of horses showing in the breeding division and/or Class 294, Young Hunter Under Saddle.

    Cool

Big Congrats to Godiva VF! Long time WB breeder Pam Valpone has another WIN with her lovely filly Godiva VF repeating last year's win in the PA division with Oliver Brown holding.

Last year, Pam was speechless while Godiva was pulled out first...I would have loved to been there to see her reaction this year!

Nice to see friends & breeders from the early WB/hunter breeding being rewarded for exceptional choices! I'll be following this filly...she's had a great start!

I think the horse's conformation really rounds out the picture so if you bring in a 'hag' it'll take away from your look and ability to present. It says only 25% on the horse, but I think it's really the 'icing on the cake'. Regardless, it was quite fun and awesome to have yet another new experience w/ my boy

Harrison is from GA. I boarded at the same barn where he taught for a while. I think he and his wife (nee Danielle Hill) are now HillFord farm.
