After playing around with bits with my sensitive young horse, we have finally found that he likes the Happy Mouth loose-ring. Going over the USEF rules for dressage bits, it states that synthetic materials are permitted as long as they are the same outline. Well, the Happy Mouth is bumpy.
Is that legal? Or do I need to go to a smooth mouthpiece? I can't find a Happy Mouth smooth one that has a stiff core, but there is a Nathe bit (for 3x the price... oi.). Is that the way I have to go?
