Default Tonight I would like to honor...

Tonight I would like to honor a horse that was one in a million. She passed away due to colic tonight. This horse was amazing, words cannot even describe. She will be a great loss to her barn and her owner. Please honor a 26 year old OTTB mare, who looked 3 years old and ready to take over the world. Please honor an owner's first horse, a heart horse, and a true partner. Please honor a horse that fought until the end, who refused to show her pain to her owner, and passed peacefully tonight in a field of grass. Finally please honor a warrior, a brood mare, a child's horse, a racehorse, a first horse, a heart horse, a bitchy mare, a sweet momma, a companion, a partner, and a much loved member of the barn family. She will be missed.

Hugs to her owner and those in the barn that knew her.

I can't tell from your post whether she was put down in a field of grass, (I expect so, since horses, in my experience, don't die peacefully in a field of grass from colic).

Whatever the circumstances, I am glad that her connections are assured that she was kept from suffering. It really hurts to lose the noble ones..

Yes, she was PTS. She went as peacefully as possible, simply laid down and went to "sleep", which I am very thankful for.

You made a mark on the world, good mare. Thank you for being the wonderful creature that you were. And, thank you, SAcres, for letting us know her, just a little.

It's always so hard when they leave us. This mare sounds like she had a great life and was well loved. RIP.

Thanks everyone. She wasn't mine but was boarded at my farm. She was one of my first boarders and the first horse I ever had to witness being put down. It was hard to see her go. Her owner is devastated. Hopefully time will heal...
    come what may

Rest in peace great mare, 1987-2013
