I did my BHS exams here and I seem to remember it was pretty good (a while ago, mind).

Can you tell us a bit more? Are they all adults? What do they ride? English/Western? Why do they want to visit a stable rather than go to an event or similar? Do they want to ride? If so what level are they/what discipline?

Hmm... Preston isn't big on the equestrian scene .

Ive been to Myerscough College a few times, it's pretty nice and always well attended. http://www.myerscough.ac.uk/?page=se...-equine-events

Robinsons is worth a visit too http://www.robinsonsequestrian.com/ashton.

that's why I was trying to find out whether they'd go to an event instead! Preston is not somewhere you'd really choose to go for horse (or any) things.

There are some good horse trials not too far away. Cholmondeley (pronounced Chumley) Castle is probably the most interesting if they have access to a car - here's the touristy (non horse trials) pages about Cholmondeley Castle: http://www.cholmondeleycastle.com/

Or Malpas, or Somerford Park - they'd all take about 1.30hr to get to.

Bold Heath and Skipton are both possible to get to in less than 1 hour but only go up to Novice (affiliated), so not that interesting.

If you can give us more information about their interests/abilities/desire to do something horsey, we could come up with some other ideas.

Derby House Saddlery is very nearby too: http://www.derbyhouse.co.uk/Wrightington.htm but neither Robinsons nor Derby House are high end saddleries. Derby House has a bit more variety, but it's marginal.

Horse Trial dates can be found here: http://www.britisheventing.com/asp-n...1&orderBy=date

but I'm assuming that as you've called your post 'riding in England' they aren't interested in spectating.

Only riding I can think of that's near-ish is http://www.draughtonridingcentre.com/Hacking.html

but again, you'd need transport as it's about an hour away.

My rider is 9 but is pretty accomplished at that young age. She does saddleseat (top ten at world championship for Morgans) and hunter seat. She is started over cross rails but on the flat she can pretty well ride about anything you put her on.

She is there visiting a terminally I'll relative and will be there for three weeks. She wants to get a few rides in while there.
