I wonder if it's one of those "liberty" classes they're doing now at the open shows... Kinda like a trail class w/ an obstacle course, only you do it walking/jogging along w/ the horse, who is at liberty.

I've done that with my my mare but nowhere as big a jump as the pic in the OP. You just cross fingers that the horse will jump straight...lol

Nah - we used to do a fun class called Bribe Your Pony - the idea was to have your horse (at liberty) follow you over a course of X's using whatever treat you thought would work best.
My friend's mare would - I swear - aim a kick at her after each jump.
My own TB just used it as an excuse to buck & fart around the ring while I stood there with whatever goodie he knew he'd get for being caught when time was up.
