Default Nursemare; Berryville VA Update 5/12 6:10pm

    Hi All,

A friend of mine had to put her mare down this morning due to severe colic and the mare just foaled yesterday. Anybody know of a mare that may accept a foal?

    Thanks.

Please contact Kathie Hamlin at Elmington Farm in Berryville
    540-955-6218 or 6219

    PS...It's a colt!

I have a 29-year old Trakehner mare who is producing milk at this point. You should check with Dr. Byron Young who just saw her yesterday to determine whether or not her milk production would be good for your foal. Dr. Young's number is 703-576-4606. I am located in Waterford, VA and you can reach me via my website.

Siegi - Kathie spoke with Dr. Young regarding your mare. For what ever the reason Dr. Young did not think it was a good fit. So, thank you for the offer.:-)

Kathie possibly has a situation that may work out. Won't know for a while...so still semi looking.

Looks like we have (knock wood) some good news. Another mare who had a foal about a month ago appears to be willing to accept the newest little tike under her wing and take care of two!

    Nature is truly amazing. :-)
