My warmblood, Billy, gets a cake every year. I always had to take some of the frosting and wipe it on his lips.... he wasn't a fan, until 2 years ago.

    Then this happened:

He did the same thing last year too... just didn't get it on camera!

Not my horse, but a friend has had a party for her's the past 2 years (he's only 2). People wear party hats, his stall get's balloons, he has a cake that is mostly his grain, applesauce, molasses etc. There are photos on my blog pony3express.blogspot.com. It's very cute and fun!

For my Tb's 30th, I had a small party for him. His former owner and her daughter along with my mom, sister, and niece. My mom made an apple/oatmeal cake for him. He LOVED it!

For my Dutch boy, I just give him extra treats on his birthday. This year I wasn't able to get to the barn for it so I gave him the treats the day before. He turned 13 this year.

My Tb will just get extra treats this year. His birthday is next week. If he lives to his 35th, I will have a party again!

Thank you very much, I really appreciate that!! I'm not sure Betta is at role model status yet, but she very much thinks everyone should be just like her so maybe!! She is a trip and a blessing for sure.

This is a very timely thread because I am getting ready to throw a party for Katai on June 1st. She will be six and it will be her first birthday since I've had her. I'm unfortunately having trouble getting people enthused about it because they either don't understand horse people or have horses but think having parties for them is ridiculous. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one to plan something fun for my girl

I was telling a friend about my planned horsey birthday party tomorrow. She kind of zoned out while I was talking and was happy to change the subject. I'm sure she thought I was crazy I bought pony his first personalized halter nameplate, and we're going to have treats and extra scratchies tomorrow. I am going to make applesauce muffins, or carrot cake...or something...I'll figure it out.

My boarder is having friends and family over next week for her gelding's 30th We will be doing a BBQ for them and I think she's planning on fun horse themed games. She has no children so she's going all out for her 'baby'

Its exactly the same for me. I don't have kids so this is my chance to plan a big birthday party

Aww so many cute ideas! For my poor boy's birthday (he was 5), I had a clinic so he had an extra long ride, but he behaved like a superstar and acted like a big boy for once (something about actually being 5 meant he could stop throwing tantrums when he was tired of work! ) But, since everyone was at the barn anyway, I made desserts for everyone and bought him a new bucket of treats and stuff

Loving this thread, so many ideas!

Wash's first birthday with me is in less than three weeks, he will be 7. I have already stated there would be party hats (and Facebook shaming). Maybe a special treat will also be in his future...

My mare's birthday is in early April, before we really have grass up here. This year she got carrots, apples, dandelions from the grocery store and we grew her some oat grass at home to eat. She was *very* impressed we managed to conjure up grass for her on that special day!

Tony was more interested in the grass than the special oat cupcakes I made him. I even topped them with his favorite treat! Sigh. Then, 2 days after his birthday...Mother's Day...he ripped his bottom lip off. Happy Mother's Day to me! And now he gets a month off, and hopefully his lip looks semi-normal when it heals.
