Default Has anyone replaced the motors on an electrogroom?

The bearings are gone on ours, small engine guy says he will replace the motors if we want, but said he wasn't sure if it would be an expensive repair or not. He asked why we wouldn't just get a shopvac. After reading a bunch of threads on here I am pretty sure I want to fix this vacuum instead. So, is it a huge pain? Will he run into trouble? I love this vacuum more than any other thing in my barn so I am sad its dead! TIA

I have not done it, but I bet if you call the manufacturer, they could tell you what is involved and pricing on the parts. The website lists parts, but doesn't have pricing that i can find. They have been really helpful for me in the past. Website with contact info here: http://www.electriccleaner.com/contactus.php.

Definitely worth fixing. I love mine, purchased secondhand, so not the prettiest, but used daily during shedding season!

The Electric Cleaner Company is in Osseo, Wisconsin. They
will sell you a new motor if desired. There are two motors
in an Electrogroom; will you need to replace both? The
company has a website and you could contact them and
ask about the cost of replacement motors.

    Default I did

I did. Only one needed replacing and found a sewing macine and vacuum cleaner repair shop to order it for me. Cost about $80. Four screws and a standard plug are all that hold it in place. Looks like you can order parts here http://www.barnworld.com/livestock-s...o_Groom_Parts/

    Default I did too.

I think when mine was around 30 years old we had to replace both motors. I called the company and bought them directly from them. If I remember correctly they were about $70-80.

I just had mine fixed by a local electric motor place. They replaced a couple bearings and the total bill was $113. My Electro groom is 12 years old
