    Gestalt,
Not sure what you're referring to? Oxbow looked perfectly fine to me. Tired, but good.
Orb is the one that looked uncomfortable. IMO

ETA: Just saw stolen's post regarding Oxbow looking off...OOPs.

I just watched & rewatched in slow-mo & real time. Didn't see anything other than a tired horse.
Gary even said he got really tired at the end.

It was after the race when he had his sheet on.

I thought Orb looked toasted before the race, but I haven't seen Oxbow.

Crap crap crap. I really love Orb and his connections.

Will we ever see another TC winner?

They aren't really showing much after the race of the horses. I think twelvebells pretty much stopped that coverage.

On another note, am I the only one that loves Sam the bugler?

I haven't heard that story. I remember seeing EightBelles crash. That was horrific. (as is any break down)

Sorry it was eighbelles. I think that is why less after race horse shots are taken.

Gary Stevens is either whipping or waving his crop at Oxbow the entire home stretch. Is that customary? Can anyone tell if its mostly striking or mostly waving? Seems excessive?

Really sorry to see Orb seem to lose engagement mid race, moving up and back several times. So sorry for his connections.

But, like Animal Kingdom showed, a great race horse is a great race horse. Time will tell Orb's story.

Fingers crossed they all came home sound.

He was just waving it at him, he was not in much danger of being caught, just doing this to keep him engaged in the race. I don't know of any rider other than Willie Shoemaker, who, it is reported, never hit a horse, rode with his hands and his heart, if you will.

He fell apart immediately when asked to run and the jockey took him back. Something is not right. He looked to me as that he had lost too much weight from the KD to this one.

A great day for Brad Kelley (Calumet)/ D. Wayne Lukas/ Gary Stevens ...

If we cannot honor the victors we spoil the event. They earned their wins and I raise a toast to them - salute, cin cin, skoal, cheers, bottoms up! Here is to age and never saying its over before it starts.

While I had Oxbow & Mylute in a side "just in case exacta" (most of my money on Orb to win) I didn't have Myluckyday & Oxbow, alas.

I thought it was going to be Orb, but still toast the best horse winning!

Whomever you picked to win the Preakness Stakes it was still a good day for racing: attendance was 117,203, 4th largest all-time. Preakness race handle $50,251,542, handle for day was $81,940,233, which is the 6th highest.

I'm tickled for Gary Stevens. Chalk one up for the "old" guys!

I am always relieved to see all come home safe.

I don't agree. Network coverage has always been short of "after race horse shots" except of the winner and the beaten favorite and even then they are brief . The networks seem to prefer the "people" stories and quickly switch to those when the race is over.

I so wanted Orb to win...would have been thrilled to see two such great racing families win BUT if it couldn't be Orb I was rooting for Gary or Rosie. Wayne Lucas mentioning his "girlfriend" struck me as somewhat juvenile at his age.
