Default Update on Booker T. Beaudry

Well, not even 48 hours after I lost my Carmella, Booker T. decided he was ready for loves. He now assumes the "pat me" position before I'm even down the stairs to the basement. He wants pats on his head and skritches on his cheeks. And he purrs. This morning as I took him his brefuss (canned food) he was given a clear choice between canned fod and pats, and he chose pats.

I'm wondering if this is all a coincidence.

Now that the top herdboss mare is gone, the slacker gelding has room to ask for attention.

Booker T. is spreading his wings.

That and I think animals are keenly aware when we need them.

I remember when my old dog passed...I was staying with my brother and his dogs were all over me. They loved me anyway, but they switched their interactions with me from bowling bowls with tongues to sweet, quiet, snugglers. They knew what I needed. So does this dude....just because he's been reserved doesn't mean he isn't aware.

It gets even better! Today when I took his breakfast down to hom he was not up on his high shelf - he was on the floor. And he came right to me. Such HUGE progress!!!

Some animals clearly want to be only pets, but we never know it if we've gotten them second (or third). Sometimes it takes losing one to let the other one shine.

Booker T. was/is a total information sponge. He sees all and responds accordingly.

Default I simply cannot believe the progress he continues to make!!!

OK, last night I told him that this is HIS house, he can go anywhere in it he likes, including on top of me. Well. He clearly took that in. In the middle of the night he was on the second floor, right outside my bedroom, meowing. This morning he was waiting for me in the kitchen!!!! Couldn't get him to stay upstairs for his breakfast, he still prefers it up on his high shelf in the basement (good move, as my other little vultures would probably move him off and eat it.) But he IS taking in everything I say to him! What a brave boy!

when I was socializing a herd of feral kittens, they all responded extremely well,,,,,,,,,climbing all over me, sitting on shoulder, choosing lovies over food..........except one....I called him catatonic because he was always wide eyed, and hid under the dresser........came time to fix and re-home kittens, I easily caught the others, but not him, so figured I would wait him out.....
as soon as the wild horde of kittens was gone, this fella became my shadow!...seems it wasn't ME he was afraid of, but rather the actions of all the other kittens!
I ws blown away by this revelation..........
he was re-homed where he is the only kitty, and is extremely happy
