When I leased out Spy, I required the people leasing him to have him vetted (at their expense) at the BEGINNING of the lease. This was for their benefit, to identify pre-existing conditions, for which I, as owner, would pay vet costs (e.g. existing arthritis, I paid for cosequin).

If I, as owner, wanted a vetting at the END of the lease, I would expect to pay for it myself.

It seems it is no longer relevant, but I have leased two horses that were up for sale.

A - I knew, before I leased the horse, that it was for sale.
B - If the horse HAD sold (neither did) while I was leasing,I would have received a healthy commission (this was in the days before "receiving a commission" made you a non-amateur)

Thanks Janet! I didn't know at the beginning of the lease that I would be selling. I gave lessors a heads up as soon as I could and gave ample notice.

I also had the leasors do a "PPE" right when horse arrived at their farm as a baseline. I suppose I should just get an exam done when he comes back to make sure he's still fine!
