Saw the piece on the Today show this morning; it seems like a wonderful program, and the doctor who led the one featured was fantastic--so gentle and soft-spoken. My sister's in med school now, and I would only hope that she could get to do something like this!

I'm skeptical. That guy appears to be quite happy with himself and I'm not sure the students learn much. Patients are far more complex than horses. If he really wanted to foster a gentle bedside manner, he'd use young calves to greater effect. Calves are curious but you need to drop all pretenses and have a perectly quiet manner to get their curiosity up enough to approach you.
