Default Maybe an opportunity to "brag" : show me how your yearlings developed!

So, I have a 2012 filly that is now, obviously, a yearling! I took some recent photos and she doesn't resemble herself at three months old... and I'm getting slightly "concerned" ....I was hoping she would stay looking more like her sire, but is starting to look more and more like her mother). I bred her knowing that if she came out looking like her mother I would be excited and anything better is gravy but I'm paranoid and just fantasizing about what I could expect her to look like at 3!

I was curious if I could get a "before and after" gallery, of sorts with your yearlings (3 months too, if you want!) and then "grown ups" (3 years+) I'd like to see how yearlings develop... any and all breeds welcome!

So I put my "money where my mouth is," Here are my photos

    3 weeks (

    3 months (

    1 year (

    (but I obviously dont have 3 years+)

Your filly looks like a lovely well-balanced yearling. Remember this is the ugly-duckling phase and IMO she looks great! I have had yearlings that I wouldn't show to anyone! They tend to come out as two year olds looking much much better, broader, and more horse-like!

I have some photos of one particularly hideous yearling turned pretty damn nice 2yo...I'll have to try and find the pics for you.

Well you didn't specify that they had to be warmbloods I had two fillies born in 2012 (so no 3 year old pics). They were my stallions first foal crop out of two maiden mares so lots of unknowns. I was very pleased with what he produced. At one year they both are exactly what I had asked for so we have bred back both mares this year for 2014 foals. The first one is the spitting image of her sire. The second one is actually a throw back to her grand dam (looks a lot like a 3/4 sibling to my stallion that I owned). Like you I'm anxious to see what they will look like as adults; but, then that's half the fun of it, the dreaming and anticipating.

Default I actually did a photo album of Tate from birth to present a while back. I do have a yearling photo that is BAD - when he is old, retired, etc I'll share it but not till then. Put it this way, his rider said that I had a lot of faith to keep him intact back when he was going through that phase lol.

I will play! I have 2 full brothers, dad is Roc USA and mom is Golden Grace a tb by Candis Gold....

    Ace at a week old....

    Ace at 3 months....

    Ace as a yearling....

Little bro Louie at a couple weeks old...

    Louie at 3 months....

Louie at a little less then a year....

It's fun to have brothers! They both have different personalities, but they are both super athletic. It will be interesting to see if the yearling ends up as brave as his brother to the jumps!

I have a pony foal this year. I am really excited to see how he grows up!!!

    I hope this works.

    Almost 4

And here's three months, because they're supposed to give you a good idea at that age.

I think your filly looks just fine for her age. :-)

Here is the only yearling I've photographed of mine so far this year.
    First photo at 5ish months.
    Second photo at 6 months.
Third photo right at 12 months.

He is a Section B Welsh Pony.

My scanner is kaput, but I've got a pic of my now 5yo when he was rising two, and then again on his 5th birthday last month. BIG difference I'd actually begun to despair of him, but this year he looks like a handsome boy!

It's so nice to see other foals through the stages of development! I just visited three of my "babies" (2 3yo's and a 2yo) who are maturing beautifully! I wish I had pics of them but unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate!

    Here is E'hiku 2012 Swedish (Escudo II/Budweiser/Pommery)

    3 months:

He's almost shed out so I'll hopefully be able to get proper yearling confo shots soon...if the rain ever stops!
