Default how to splice electric fence

There is always a good/better/best so I am wondering what is the best way to splice electric fence?
    I have braid and tape.
Every now and then during the winter the 'hot' wire is not so hot and my mouthy ADD girl chews the fence.
Now that spring has come I need to do some repairing.
I have heard of tying knots but I wonder about the connectivity of that.
The internet seems to disapprove of tying a loop, threading the other end through and tying it off. this was my preferred method.
After knotting I would twist the loops together.
Another method is to simply overlap and twist ends together.

It is hard enough to make time to do repairs I want to do it well the first time.
    thanks for ideas.

I use these handy little gadgets. The company recommend that you use two, about six or eight inches apart, overlapping the ends of the rope. I bet they make something similar for tape.

If you have wide tape, the splicers for tape that you can buy in bags at Tractor Supply (that look like giant paper clips) work well. If you have have very narrow tape, a tight knot works, but it looks..well...tied..LOL.
