    Default Blackjack Mountain Carrollton Ga.

A few years back someone on here was telling us about Blackjack Mt. going to open (legally) for trail riding. Said that some were already riding there even though it wasn't actually open.

Seems as if this posters brother was involved in some way, can't remember how.

Anyhow I've been unable to find out anything more about it and the web sites I've pulled up all are related to climbing.

Anyone know anything about it? Would love to ride there.
You know why cowboys don't like Appaloosas?" - Answer: Because to train a horse, you have to be smarter than it is.

    Hi PJ

That was me! My brother now works at Banning Mill and not the Carroll County Parks Dept. So, I do not have any information on it.

There was an article in the paper yesterday about the new park near McIntosh, Moores Bridge and they mentioned BlackJack but so far, it is not open. Here is the link to the article.

Smile What a memory Blackjack Mt.

I went to graduate school in Carrollton a million yrs. ago. Back in the day when young people bought land and built handmade cabins. My Psy. professor had one at the base of Blackjack Mt., a A frame. we rented it for several yrs, days of smoke and wild parties, getting lost in the woods. What a beautiful place it was and rather empty but for many large farms.
At that time Alabama was considered dangerous for long hairs not that all the Carrollton folks approved of us either. We stayed on the Georgia side of the border.
There were some cows on the Mt. otherwise wide open for hikes and whatever, felt like out own private place.
    Thanks for the memory.
