It could be an age thing? He sure looks awkwardly put together. Not to mention slightly embarrassed. Of course, the photo quality could be adding to the overall impression, with spatial distortion making him look worse than he really is .
Definitely downhill, but his butt looks closer the the camera, so I think its making it look more exaggerated than it really is! Hopefully its just an age thing and he will even out! Reminds me of a 4 yr old that I had. He wasn't that downhill, but he was downhill. Thankfully when you rode him he used his hindend so well that you couldn't tell!
The horse isn't even 2 yet, so he has a good bit of growing left and probably is in a butt-high phase. He doesn't appear to be set up well for the photo - if you check out the feet, the back end is closer to the camera than the front end, causing distortion. The photographer is also shooting from the hip area rather than the shoulder area, furthering that. I would want to see better pics before judging. This one certainly does make him appear unfortunate.
Oh My GOSH! YES, I'd say he's more than a tad butt high! LOL!!!
I've been trying to find a good trail horse & the offers stopped coming in when I said in my ad, no gaited horses & no butt high horses. Almost all the CL horses that have been sent to me are butt high. Horrible. Have one now that I'm using & he's slightly butt high & yet feel very unbalanced. Give me an uphill warmblood any day!
