Now see that is creative! Sadly all I can do is crochet Dish Cloths, And not very well.
Every now and then I look at sewing machines, and think I should buy one and learn to sew in my old age.. Yeah, right! LOL
But those pads are a great idea, you can custom make them anyway you can think of, and they would be great for Secret Santa gifts!

Very pretty. I've never thought of covering a pad but I have bought quilted mattress covers and started from stratch. I didn't find it that much work but I have no life. Not as "solid" as starting with a ready made pad, but they work. I too, enjoyed your blog.

If you wanted to have your own monogrammed pad, it would be easy to monogram the cloth first, and then attach it using your method. You could also applique a monogram or any other graphic design onto the cloth. Or you could quilt the project a little more than you have done to make a nice look, especially if using a plain or solid colored fabric.
I kept thinking about making my own saddle pad from scratch. Then my sewing machine screams "NO" from the closet. I check my anti-anxiety meds, and there never seems to be enough to cover such a project. So I go buy a new saddle pad. Never in the color or design I want.
This is a brilliant idea! So simple and stress free. Excellent idea and blog post!!!
Very Cool! and nicely done pictures and description.
I've done several pads in a similar manner ( I make and sell custom pads on etsy), and I've also made two from complete scratch (it's not worth the time or the hassle in my opinion). This is a great idea to to revamp some of my older schooling pads.
Ok seriously, that is a genius idea! Your photos and instructions are easy to follow and also hilarious. Idiotic questions regarding your miscellaneous tips: What is a nap? What does grosgrain mean? Can you take pictures of your other saddle pads so we can see how awesome they are? Thanks!!
